Relay for Life

Volunteer Coordinator

Silent Auction Coordinator

I have been a part of Relay for Life since 2003 which includes 6 Relay for Life events in Humboldt and Saskatoon.

Relay for Life is a part of the Canadian Cancer Society to raise awareness for cancer research. The event is to celebrate those who are in remission, support the ones who are going through the process and remember those we have lost.

Relay for Life is a 12 hour event running through the night into the early hours in the morning. The event includes walking the track, socializing with participants and taking part in the trackside activities.

To ensure the success of Relay for Life in Humboldt, the event was only hosted once every three years. During the 3 events in 2003, 2006 and 2009, I was the Silent Auction Coordinator. This included the procuring silent auction items from over 100 local businesses and organizing logistics around the silent auction tent.

During the 2011, 2012 and 2013 events in Saskatoon, I took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator. This included the recruitment and retention of over 200 volunteers a year.  With my many years with Relay for Life, I managed and adapted the volunteer positions to accommodate event changes and more fluidity.

Edwards School of Business Involvement

Edwards Business Students Society & Marketing Students Society

In 2011 I decided to get involved with the Edwards School of Business students societies. I was a part of the Marketing Students Society for 2 years which included a Vice President role and Online Media Director. I was able to implement and manage the website and social media strategy (when social media used to be easy). I took on more of a leadership role as a Vice President developing marketing workshops, social events and charitable events. During my two years on the Marketing Students Society, I aided in the organization and implementation of the William Joseph Case Competition.

I was also a part of the Edwards Business Students Society as a Business Formal and Graduation Director. This position collaborated with another Director in planning 2 large events with the Edwards School of Business and business professionals. I organized the Edwards Business Formal networking event for over 400 guests and the Graduation Banquet and Ceremonies for over 450 guests. This also included designing budgets and delivered events under cost projections.
